Okay so here’s the truth… *This was my BEFORE* I was contemplating even sharing this. I LOVE sharing health tips but this one… I was scared I wouldn’t be able to do a whole 86 hours. That’s A LONG TIME!! But then @joerogan voice popped in my head saying “stop listening to your inner bitch.” Can’t deny that. I saw @danawhite talk about how amazing he felt after doing the 86 hour fast, and I’d been interested in it after reading @dollyparton book and her love for fasting. For me this isn’t about losing fat (although a bonus benefit), this is about longevity and killing off cancerous cells & longevity (primarily preventing Alzheimer’s). Phase 1: Hours 0 – 4 (Anabolic Phase) Muscle Building: This phase involves tissue building, primarily muscle, using the nutrients from your last meal. Phase 2: Hours 4 – 16 (Catabolic Phase) The body has used up the energy from food and starts breaking down larger stored energy molecules. Ketosis: Glycogen and body fat are broken down into fuel sources. The body begins the transition to ketosis, especially in low-carb diets. Autophagy: This cellular cleaning process removes damaged organelles and infectious agents, playing a crucial role in cellular repair and renewal. Phase 3: Hours 16 – 24 (Fat-Burning and Autophagic Phase) Full Transition to Ketosis: The body fully depletes glycogen reserves and relies on fat stores for energy. Increased HGH: There’s a significant increase in human growth hormone, improving memory, muscle mass, and reducing water retention and cortisol levels. Phase 4: Hours 24 – 72 (Peak Ketosis and Autophagy) Optimized Fat Utilization: The body efficiently converts fat cells into ketone esters, providing energy to most cells. BDNF Production: Higher levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, enhancing brain function & potentially reducing risks of certain neurological diseases. Phase 5: Hours 72+ Deep Ketosis: Ongoing fat breakdown into ketones, providing energy. Continued Autophagy and BDNF: Further cellular repair & neural support. Stem Cell Production: Triggered by reduced IGF-1 production, enhancing immune function & cellular resistance to damage. So.. who wants to get better?? 🤔
