Whether these numbers are accurate or not... in my experience as a communication skills and public speaking teacher, this is very true.

I find that my students retain more information when they learn information not just by listening but also by getting physically involved in the learning process, discuss and apply their knowledge with their peers.

so if you just listen to something you retain five percent of it if you read it you retain double that so you return about ten percent of it then if you listen and you read it and you retain about twenty percent of it that's what most people will stop the next part is demonstration you'll retain about thirty percent of it then what i love about what we do in the podcast is we discuss it so then if you discuss what you've learned you've attained fifty percent of it the next if you practice by doing and now if you apply the knowledge
now you're attending seventy five percent of it and then the last one is now if you take that skill set and then you go and you teach somebody else
then that that's when you retain about ninety percent
