How to get clients without a portfolio? Yes, you heard it right. You don’t necessarily need a portfolio to attract clients. Why am I so confident about this? Because that’s how I landed my first client. I didn’t have any portfolio. Here’s what I did: Secret: Show off on social media. Post a lot of content showcasing your design process, who you are, and what you do. The best part? You don’t even need to showcase your real work if you don’t have any. I posted some websites that I designed just for fun and received many design requests from them. You might think it worked for me because I have a lot of followers. The funniest thing is that I got most of my client requests from TikTok, where I had 1000~2000 followers. The conclusion? You don’t need a large following to start getting clients. Clients don’t require a perfect Behance case study; what they actually need is to trust you and know that you can do the job they want. You can easily convince them by posting about yourself on social media. It’s a new era of getting clients. If you still think you need a perfectly crafted Behance portfolio, spending three months on at least one case study, you’re missing out. There’s an easier and more effective way to do this. Think about it. Where do you think most clients hang out? On Behance and Dribbble, where most designers judge designs? Or on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn, where all types of businesses hang out?
