A lot of former athletes also make their way into transportation, but not many people do it the way Harry Giles III has.

have you heard the story of the nba player who started a trucking company when he thought his basketball career was over
harry giles the third was a phenol am in high school who was projected to be an nba superstar one day giles was ranked as the second best prospect in high school basketball and i committed to playing college basketball at duke but during his senior year in twenty fifteen
giles tours acl he went on to only played twenty six games at duke before declaring for the nba draft in twenty seventeen although he was once considered a potential number one pick giles fell all the way to number twenty because of injury concerns
and those concerns turned out to be justified as giles would go on to have an injury plagued career in the nba that only lasted a few years during his absence from the nba and twenty twenty two twenty twenty three
giles tried his hand at an entirely different career
trucking
in january of twenty twenty two he founded we g logistics and north carolina based trucking company it's a small operation just one truck and one driver
but showed that giles was ambitious and clearly had enough business savvy to take advantage of twenty twenty twos booming free market
despite being a new business owner giles never stopped training and hopes that an nba team would give him another chance he was recently given that chance when the brooklyn nets signed him to a non guaranteed contract back in november
i'm sure he plans to stay for the long term this time around
but i'll bet it helps knowing that you have a solid backup plan
