Your manager makes or breaks your career.

And I’ve had friends who’ve gotten 3x compensation increases simply because their manager vouched for them HARD.

But on the other end, I’ve had friends who’ve been screwed by their managers. And they’ve been lied to, gaslit and overworked.

Find a good manager. Keep a good relationship with them. And see your career thrive.

finding a supportive manager is hard a absolutely your manager is the most important factor in getting a promotion here's my manager from google who helped me get paid two hundred thousand dollars a year at google and it's because they're the ones who have to advocate for you during performance reviews so dictating level work that your team has to do because if your managers bad at stakeholder management
than every other team's gonna walk all over your team
all to say that if you don't have a supportive manager find a new job where you will because for every month that you're working under a crappy manager the month that you could've used to spend time building your relationship with the manager who cares about you and good managers promote you they'll ask you what is a next step in your career and how they can help you get there and most importantly to help you get paid so if you have a shitty manner
it's time to leave
