brain is powered by electricity but where does it get the power from let's talk about it if you're new to my channel i'm of course rachel the neuroscientist brain cells are always charged let's see and they keep that charge through something called sodium potassium pump basically there's this flow of positively charged sodium and potassium going in and out of the brain cell at all times and that keeps it charged you obviously need a source of power to keep that process going and we use something called adenosine triphosphate
essentially what the brain does is it will take up oxygen and glucose and then build this fuel source of atp to keep that pump running
